WE'RE GOING TO SPACE! Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Redroaming: Think the time has come to sadly archive this event now - very many thanks for those who ventured out to their first geocaching event to discover that fellow geocachers are very friendly and even more addicted than themselves to geocaching! Many thanks for the compliments which show that the evening was a great success for everyone, and that The Pen Inn was a good venue for us to have chosen.
Hopefully we will arrange another event here next year, and hopefully see you and more then!

Many thanks, Red.roaming and Dartmoor Deliverer

Geocache Description:

We have both enjoyed many very friendly geocaching events arranged by other geocachers both close to home and further afield, so it is about time we arranged one for all of YOU to enjoy prompted by the recent GAGB weekly email!

You don’t read the words, “We’re going to space!” very often. So, how about we soak up the joy of reading those words once more? Let’s add a little pizzazz and shout it by using all capital letters: “WE’RE GOING TO SPACE!” Yeah! A Geocaching Travel Bug® is hitching a ride with astronaut Rick Mastracchio straight to the International Space Station. The mission is currently scheduled to launch from Kazakhstan at 4:08 GMT on November 7, which is 5:08 a.m. in Berlin and November 6 at 8:08 p.m. in Los Angeles. Rick will live aboard the ISS for 6 months. He plans to use the Travel Bug as a tool to teach students on Earth, in his home state of Connecticut, about geography and science. He’ll also earn the Solar System’s most elusive smiley and find the International Space Station geocache. (GC1BE91 - still waiting to have a FTF logged!).
Ready for some more pizzazz? Geocaching HQ will issue a Geocaching in Space souvenir to those who attend Event Caches during the launch. You can watch the launch live online or check out the recording later to celebrate the geocaching community’s spirit of exploration.
We have booked the conservatory at The Pen Inn on the outskirts of Newton Abbot from 7pm onwards. They have Main, Specials and Snack menus, and if meals are ordered BEFORE 9pm 2 meals are for the price of one! Plenty of carparking available. Come and join us for a lively geochat social evening! See you all there!

PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY DOGS ARE ALLOWED IN THE BAR AREA ONLY - or in the outside seating area - hopefully this wont deter any cacher(s) from coming !!!!
DONT FORGET - SIGN THE LOG BOOK DURING THE EVENING AND EARN ANOTHER SOUVENIR!
