Long Branch is a neighbourhood and former village in the south-west of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the south-west corner of the former Township (and later, City) of Etobicoke on the shores of Lake Ontario. The village of Long Branch was an independent municipality from 1930 to 1967. Long Branch was originally a land grant from the British to Colonel Samuel Smith. After Smith's death, it was developed as a summer resort in the late 1800s. In the early 20th century, the area became a commuter suburb of Toronto with streetcar connections to Toronto, and later was absorbed into the larger cities of Etobicoke, and then Toronto.
