Elton John has been going strong for nearly 50 years. Born Reginald Kenneth Dwight in 1947, he changed his name to Elton Hercules John and flew to stardom. He was somewhat flamboyant in his younger years, but he has settled down and was even knighted in 1998. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame in 1994. He co-wrote most of his songs with Bernie Taupin. He has had at least one Billboard top 40 song every year between 1970 and 1990. This series of caches highlights some of his hits.

Candle in the Wind

Released in 1973, released 1987.  The song is a tribute to Marilyn Monroe.  In 1997 Elton performed the song with new lyrics at the funeral of Princess Diana. This version of the song reached #1 in many countries and was officially listed as the highest  selling single of all time.
