IAD has been in existence since November 1962 and was named after John Foster Dulles, who was the Secretary of State under Eisenhower. Designed by architect Eero Saarinen, it lies 26 miles west of downtown Washington DC and in 2012 serves 22.6 million passengers a year. There are four concourses (A, B, C & D) which house 139 gates. On the four runways, 31 airlines fly their planes non-stop to over 81 destinations domestically and 48 internationally.
You will need to bring a pen, as the cache is small and does not have one.
There is paid parking nearby.
