Geocache Description:

This is an unique rock cut the was uncovered with the blasting of the rock cuts through Northern Ontario during the creation of the Trans- Canada Highway.

The ripple marks of this rock were created some two billion years ago by waves in a shallow body of water. It was then buried by deposits of silt and the subjected to great amounts of pressure which created a sand stone. The formation was then tilted 60 degrees from the horizontal by the crumpling of the earths crust. This is a neat feature beacuse there are three distinct beds of sandstone shown in the rock, two of them with ripple marks on them almost at a right degree angle of one another which implies that there was an abrupt change in the direction of the shoreline or in the current.
