This cache is aptly named for the misadventures of my trusty hiking dog, Colby.
It was a beautiful day for a hike at Wapping Park. Colby and I had traveled along a trail to find a cache that had eluded me in the past. As we got close, Colby seemed very excited to get to a certain spot. Was he going to find the cache for me? Well, maybe not. He found something, alright, and he quickly dropped down and started rolling around in the dirt. He scampered over to me looking very pleased with himself. As I checked my coordinates one last time, I got a whiff of something very unpleasant. What the...?
It was Colby. Yup, he stunk. A lot. Turns out that he had rolled around in the remains of a dead bird. Ugh! Well, not much to do except take a longer hike and hope he airs out a little before the car ride home. As we zigzagged in and out of the trails, Colby sniffed something else and went after it, only to find himself knee deep in forest bog mud.
My doubly stinky dog and I decided to head back to the trail and make our way home. As we stopped for a moment so I could brush some mud off Colby's paws, I spotted a location that looked like the perfect place for a cache. I've carried this container with me for months now, knowing someday I'd find the perfect spot, and here it is!
The lock and lock container is off the trail and in a relatively dry area. Venture too far from this spot, and you'll find that mud that Colby found, so watch your step. Please bring a pen!
