The Hobbit - Bilbo's Chest: The Troll's Treasure Letterbox Hybrid

To find the cache. Follow the instructions on Bilbo's Treasure Map pictured above.

The map reads: To find the cache, start at the posted coordinates or at the terminus of the Camp Branch Greenway. Turn around. Travel 45 steps southeast along the greenway. Turn west onto the path 33 steps until you reach the portal to underground filth. Continue nine steps in the same direction. Turn north traveling 30 steps passing a very large tree on your right. Arrive at the treasure between two trees closer to the left.

UPDATE: Due to flooding in the area. The cache has moved about 10 feet. Once you find the two trees, turn around and travel towards the path. You will find the cache in the man-made tube.

Balin spotted a fire in the distance and sent Bilbo to investigate. Bilbo saw three Trolls when he approached the camp fire. He tried to steal one of the Trolls' purses but was discover and captured by William, one of the trolls. He escaped the trolls but was helpless to prevent all the dwarves from being captured when they came looking for him. Gandalf, however, saved them all by imitating the Trolls' voices. This led to an argument between the Trolls, who argued until dawn, when the sun turned the Trolls to stone. Upon discovery of a troll-cave Gandalf and Thorin took two fine elvish swords from the Trolls' treasure. The gold from the treasure was collected in a chest and hidden in the event one of the party returned to reclaim it.

This is a letterbox / geocache hybrid; there is a stamp and stamp inkpad in the box. Please do not take these. People who find this as a letterbox will be expecting to find a stamp that they can stamp in their logbook.
