This cache is placed at a Nature Hut in the Canaan Town Forest. A parking area can be found in the S-curves of Route 4. A sign marks the trailhead. Parking waypoint provided (N 43 39.035 W 72 3.855)
Follow the orange trail to the Timber frame nature hut, it is open to the public, feel free to sign the log book inside but please leave it as you found it. Because much of the town forest is wetland, the trail returns to the roadside for a bit to cross a culvert but then quickly re-enters a few hurdred feet further along. If you want to opt out of the trail walk you could simply walk along route 4 until you see an older skidder track enter the woods, this will lead you right to the hut.
As a side note, my husband and his Building Contruction class at the local high school crafted the timbers for the timber frame and helped set it in place. I think it's weathering beautifully.
The conainer is a lock tight container measuring approximately 6"x5"x3" and is stocked with unique homemade take-aways.
For the first to find, I've left a pair of Felted Acorn Earrings, one of the best sellers from my market days, a gift from me to you or for your special someone.
This cache is my first hide, so please sign the log book and log your visit online, also let me know the condition of the container and the contents as well as I plan to keep it in good shape.
Thanks for looking!
