This cache is hidden in an old disused jetboat sprint course in a basic campground on the banks of the Hawea River. The Hawea river drains Lake Hawea, and meets the Clutha River about 500m downstream of this point. This site is very close to the start of the Hawea River track (to Lake Hawea) and the Newcastle track (to Luggate), both of which can be walked or biked.
The cache is a 200ml snap lock container with a couple of swaps and a notebook and pencil. When the river is at its lowest the cache can be reached without getting feet wet. When the river is flowing high, the area around the cache becomes an island in a shallow pond, and may require you to wade in up to knee deep. Cache is well concealed at the base of a young willow sapling. This site is very popular in the summertime, and may require some stealth on hot days when muggles are out and about.
