Could be a cache and dash (please park considerately) or part of a longer walk or bike ride on the Kirklees Trail, part of Sustrans National Cycle Route 6. The cache location could be muddy!
Greenmount Sidings is the name given to this recently re-vamped end of the Kirklees Trail. This used to be Greenmount Station when the railway was in existence. The bench, renovated bridleway and wildlife pond project was funded by Community Spaces, a Big Lottery Scheme and Bury Council who oversaw the work. It makes a pleasant place for a sit down and a butty! The area can be busy on a nice day so you may have to use some stealth.
