The walk we usually do is to follow path on the left as far as River Barrow, cross, turn left and walk along the river. Then we turn right into the forest where signposted. Where the paths cross, turn left and follow the arrows from there to complete the loop.
The cache is of medium size, with space for tradables. Please return as found. There is no need to move/disturb anything to retrieve the cache, it is nestled into a naturally sheltered place. 8 is better than 1 for a very good reason.
The GPS was jumpy under tree cover so please use clue and/or spoiler photo if needed!
Located in a typical woodland setting, this site is part of the old Warburton Estate.
The woodlands, mixed conifer and broadleaf, lie on both sides of the river Barrow. Norway spruce and Scot’s pine are the main conifer species. The main broadleaf trees to be seen are beech, ash and oak.
Grasses, rushes and an abundance of wild flowers are also present including bluebells by the riverside. In this pleasant woodland landscape, you may also observe fauna such as fallow deer, grey and red squirrels, rabbits and a broad variety of birdlife.
Beginning at the car park and proceeding over bridge on the River Barrow, this woodland provides a leisurely walk through the forest.
Ideal for children, suitable for buggies. Also great for dog walking.
In the spring you will find masses of wild garlic, in the autum an amazing range of mushrooms.
