If you like back to basics camping, then please come and join Wemnog and I for a fun weekend in the beautiful Peak District
There are now three events over the weekend, starting with this camping event.
Then on Saturday evening we have (visit link)
and on Sunday to end the weekend, kindly arranged by Ian and Karen of Nadiagoescaching
(visit link)
Back to where my Summer's End camping events started back in 2010.
If you like a bit of back to basics camping this event will be ideal for you.
A farmers field with
1 toilet
1 basin with cold water tap BUT
at only £2 - £3 per night per person who can complain (prices still to be checked, but shouldn't be more than that.
If you don't want to cook all the time there is an excellent cafe over the road and a spit and sawdust pub next door
No need to book, if you want to go just post a Will Attend or write a possibility note on the listing so that I can let the owner know approximate numbers a couple of days before.
Camping will begin at Midday on Friday and finish sometime on Sunday.
Tents and small camper vans are allowed, and you can also sleep in a van if you own one. Sorry but caravans can't access the site due to the angle of the entrance gate.
At the time of publication I am in negotiations with some other cachers about organising some extra activities to complement the weekend. More details will follow.
If you don't fancy camping, pop over during the weekend and say hello. Everyone welcome
This event is being held the weekend before Easter Bank Holiday to get you in the mood for your long weekend holiday.
With caches galore in the area there will be plenty to keep you occupied.
Saturday Plans
If you want to do a good series of 42 caches + some others en route on the Saturday, then approximately 10 miles from the campsite you will find The Emperor's Quest series (visit link) This series has had a lot of good reports and would be well worth doing if you fancy a walk. ***Read the listings carefully prior to the camp as you will need to do some homework for at least one of them which is a puzzle. There is also an Earthcache involved in the series.
If you want to join us for some adventure caches, then a group of us will be attempting some of Meltdiceburgs Adventure series, you are welcome to join us.
If you decide to join us for the adventure series you should be aware that most of them are high DT ratings, and you should have with you spare clothes and footwear, towels and torches. We will have rope with us.
