The Little Murray Weir is situated just 13km south-east from Swan Hill.
The construction of the Little Murray Weir was completed in June 1915.
This weir on the Little Murray River maintains the water level in irrigation feeder channels supplying the surrounding farms.
The Little Murray River is an anabranch of the Murray River, which rejoins the parent stream at Swan Hill, near Goat Island,at Riverside Park. ( leaving the Murray River just north of Benjeroop.) The Pioneer Settlement is situated on the Little Murray.
Downstream from the Little Murray Weir towards Swan Hill, the river level is usually low during winter.
Tragedy struck at the Little Murray Weir in December 1971 when three local men were drowned, when their boat capsized while they were fishing. Their bodies were recovered downstream, one several days later.
There was a nice picnic ground and a boat ramp at this spot.
The river contains, Murray Cod, Silver Perch, Golden Perch, Catfish, Redfin, Freshwater Crayfish and Eels.
