Alright, I took some artistic liberties with this description. A few nights ago, I stumbled upon this math problem on a freshman general education exam at UofA. The problem is simple enough- but for some reason, it sparked a debate between three engineers and a master's degree graduate. We eventually settled on the correct answer, but not until we had run in many circles arguing semantics.
