A travel bug is headed to space with Astronaut Rick Mastracchio, why not make it a pre-launch event? Let's meet from 6pm and have a bite to eat, a swallow to drink, and tell your best geocaching in space story. Pop corn and hot chocolate will be served.
Rick will live aboard the ISS for 6 months. He plans to use the Travel Bug as a tool to teach students on Earth, in his home state of Connecticut, about geography and science. He’ll also earn the Solar System’s most elusive smiley and find the International Space Station geocache.
The mission is currently scheduled to launch from Kazakhstan on November 6 at 11:08 p.m. You'll be home in plenty of time to pop some popcorn and watch from home.
As a bonus, every geocacher who attends a Geocaching Event on November 6 or 7, 2013 will be awarded a “Geocaching in Space” souvenir.
