It offer industrial water to the Hsinchu Science Industrial Park; and drinking water to Hsinchu, Zhubei, Baoshan, Zhudong and other regions.
Baoshan Reservoir adjacent to the Science Park, still retains the original style of the surrounding.By the ecological survey from Shanhu Village, Scarce and rare wildlife conservation in the region namely Crested serpent eagle, Brown Spotted Pit Viper, rat snake and Taiwan grass lizards.
Built next to the reservoir is about 3.2 km trail around the lake, passing through two beautiful suspension bridge, a year by the end of April early May, Oil-Tung Blossom full of white around the reservoir, very suitable for outing.
