Geocache Description:

We are going to be camping at Kings Mountain State Park

We are going to be camping at Kings Mountain State Park Friday November 8th and Saturday November 9th. So stop on by and see what cool weather camping is all about ! We will be having a pot luck dinner on Saturday at 5pm. Bring something to eat and you’re in. After dinner we will have a camp fire that will be as big as the park allows, roasting marshmallows and maybe even sneaking in a s’more or three. I also have heard a rumor that there will be music. What’s a camp fire w/o some tunes ? We will be on Sites 112 &113. Of course there will be cache excursions into the wilds of South Carolina, because that’s what we do ! So come out for a day trip or come out ready to camp, it is up to you. There wil be other sites available if we exceed the limit on attendees 6 per site.

Camping Information : Each site is packed gravel and includes individual water and electrical hookups. Several sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet. The campground is convenient to restroom facilities with hot showers. While tent campers may use the main camping area, the park offers a designated tent site area which includes central water.

Days and Hours of Operation : 8am-6pm, daily (extended to 7am-9pm during Daylight Saving Time)

Things to do while in the park.

The Piedmont’s Kings Mountain State Park has miles of forested trails perfect for supreme Kings Mountain hiking, two fishing lakes, and sits adjacent to Kings Mountain National Military Park, , one of many national park Revolutionary War sites. Local crowds flock to the park during regularly scheduled special events, especially every November when living history demonstrations are held at the park’s replica 1800s Piedmont farm.
The farm is a replica of a 19th century South Carolina yeoman farm which includes a barn, cotton gin and blacksmith/carpenter shop.

Boating and Boat Access : Private kayaks and canoes may be launched on Lake York for a $5/day fee for one canoe or two kayaks. Visitors may obtain a permit at the park office. Jon boats are not allowed on the lake.

Please grab your food, tent and loved ones and come out to enjoy the weekend with the Cleveland County Cachers.
