Cuckoo Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Eclectic Penguin: Archiving for now as one of the components is broken and the other was faulty requiring special instructions.

If I can repair/replace I'll un-archive here if the location is still available or perhaps elsewhere.

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

The published coordinates are the first stage of a short, but unusual multi-cache. Please ensure you replace the clue box found here exactly as you found it (or better if its become exposed). The "Additional hint" provided is for the clue box should you need it.

Note: although the cache has the same name and start location as a previous cache at this location, there are differences, hence publishing as a new cache.

Not your average "read the sign and replace the letters with numbers" offset Geocache - all will become clear when you find and follow the instructions in the clue box at the published coordinates.

As coverage can be patchy here, you're looking for a hollow area in the base of a tree which has multiple mossy roots showing, under stickoflague, about 10-15 metres off the track.

PLEASE re-hide the cache as described by the note in the cache. Think about whether or not you're making it harder to find for subsequent finders as an improper re-hide can make it a lot harder and possibly even impossible to find.

If you liked this, spread the word among fellow cachers - but please don't spill the beans about what you find in the clue box - let it be as much of a surprise as it was for you...

If you get stuck, the encoded hint gives an idea of which direction to head, from the first location.

Ode to the Cuckoo - W. Wordsworth

O blithe newcomer! I have heard,
I hear thee and rejoice:
O Cuckoo! shall I call thee bird,
Or but a wandering Voice?

While I am lying on the grass
Thy twofold shout I hear;
From hill to hill it seems to pass,
At once far off and near.

Though babbling only to the vale
Of sunshine and of flowers,
Thou bringest unto me a tale
Of visionary hours.

Thrice welcome, darling of the Spring!
Even yet thou art to me
No bird, but an invisible thing,
A voice, a mystery;

The same whom in my schoolboy days
I listened to; that Cry
Which made me look a thousand ways
In bush, and tree, and sky.

To seek thee did I often rove
Through woods and on the green;
And thou wert still a hope, a love;
Still longed for, never seen!

And I can listen to thee yet;
Can lie upon the plain
And listen, till I do beget
That golden time again.

O blessed birth! the earth we pace
Again appears to be
An unsubstantial, fairy place,
That is fit home for Thee!
