As an educational outreach, the Jim Henson Company has partnered with zoos, museums, PBS stations, and geocachers to hide Dinosaur Train themed geocaches. Each cache celebrates a prehistoric animal featured in the Dinosaur Train Field Guide. This cache celebrates the Cretoxyrhina!
The cache is near the Cypresswood Bike path. The trail runs parallel to Faulkey Gully and eventually Cypress Creek. Ground zero may be flooded after a large flood so be prepared. The cache is a small camouflaged container located on the edge of a small cliff. To get to the cache, you will need to go a few feet off the trail torwards Faulkey Gully. The cache shouldn't be hard to get to. Remember to enjoy nature and try to leave no trace. Happy caching!
What is your favorite dinosaur? Be sure to tell us when you log your find!
Cretoxyrhina

The Cretoxyrhina (creh-TOX-see-RYE-nah) was a shark that lived about 100 million to 82 million years ago during the Creatceous time period. Cretoxyrhinas grew to about 24 feet; about the size of the Great White Shark today. Cretoxyrhinas were carnivores. They fed on a variety of marine animals such as Mosasaurs, Plesiosaurs, fish, and turtles.
Almost 100 million years ago, this area was covered with water. This body of water was known as the Western Interior Seaway. Cretoxyrhina lived and swam in these waters for millions of years.
