Looks like a large cigar tube.
In the Old Days (pre Beatles) there used to be a trolley line going down the middle of Huntington Drive and this used to be one of the spur lines off the main line. The spur would take you over to the San Marino International Airport where you could board one of the hot air gliders that would take you to all points of the compass and then some. This was one of the few underground airports in the US at the time and was built that way as a precaution due to the war in Europe. Many of the streets bare the names of the airlines that were popular then and some are still around today. As an example Virginia Street was named after an airline that just removed the last two letters of it's name and is still around and thriving today. You can see part of the landing field if you go over to Lacy Park and the the large arbor on the west side was originaly the ticket counters. Unfortunately the airport closed when local developers started building houses on Runway 475 West and their swimming pools would interfer with the baggage handlers.
While placing this cache I discovered an old wooden case full of plastic decorative crabs. This is not a place where you want a case of crabs!
