Geocache Description:

This cache is placed near the viewpoint for a surprisingly impressive waterfall. We named it Grouse Falls after finding the remains of 3 hunted ruffed grouse on the stream leading to the falls. It likely has a proper local name but we don't know it. Not much water flows over the cliff in autumn but it is still an impressive drop and the view of the North Thompson valley alone is worth the short hike.

From Hwy 5, turn onto the Orchard Lake/Badger Lake forest service road and, once past the houses, look for the first main side road on the left on the bend of a sharp corner (see waypoint below). Most trucks should be able to turn onto this double track but people in cars will likely want to find a safe pull-over spot on the main forest service road and walk the short hike along the double track instead. The stream leading to the waterfall crosses the double track and you will have to cross the stream to reach the cache; it's easy to cross in autumn but we don't know how it will be in spring. Recent flagging tape in the area suggests that part of the approach will be logged soon so access may be unavailable for a short time. The cliff drops off sharply so please be careful near the edge. The cache is NOT placed near the edge.

The cache container only holds a log book and pencil, so come for the views but please restrict future cache contents to travel bugs.
