The Pink Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Antheia: Hi mucky millie & co
This cache has been disabled for some time and as the owner has not repaired/replaced it, I am archiving it.

The Geocache Maintenance guideline explains a CO's responsibility towards checking and maintaining the cache when problems are reported. Caches that have been archived for lack of maintenance will not be unarchived. This is explained in the Help Center.

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Regards

Geocache Description:

A nice, easy, fun cache. As the name suggests the contents of the cache are pink and, if possible, I would like the swaps also to be pink. Since this container has gone missing multiple times, please make sure that you leave the cache exactly as you find it, thank you.

This cache is placed in recognition of Wendy Trehiou's double English Channel swim ( Dover - Calais - Dover) on 20th to 21st of August 2013 in a time of 39 hours 9 mins. Wendy is the first Jersey person to complete this two way challenge. Altogether she swam approximately 100 miles due to tides, wind and currents taking her off course.

This cache is pink as Wendy is a breast cancer survivor and her swim raised money for three cancer charities. She undertook the swim in a pink costume and hat and some members of her support crew onboard the accompanying boat even dyed their hair pink!

Following this phenomenal achievement, Wendy has been awarded the Island's Churchill Award for Courage.  She is only the sixth recipient since the award was established by the States of Jersey in 1965.  Sir Michael Birt, the Island's Bailiff, said "The Island is immensely proud of Wendy Trehiou's achievement, which required her to overcome great challenges both mental and physical".

During the summer months, if you look out to sea, you may spot Wendy and some fellow members of the Jersey Long Distance Swimming Club, who regularly train in this area.
