Geocache Description:

The Village Mall Cinema (Theater) used to be in this mall for over 24 years!
 
1975 – Opened
1975 – Bought by Sameric Corp.
1982 – Began running second-run films
1988 – Bought by United Artists
1999/2000* – Closed

The theater opened with two screens in the Village Mall, which was built in 1975.  The Village Mall existed as one of the smaller regional malls popular back in the day. It's only true anchor was a department store located at the far left end with a grocery store on the other end that offered no entrance to the mall itself.
 
In 1982, the Willow Grove Park Mall opened and the decline of the Village Mall was apparent. By the early 90s, the entire section from the middle to the dead end was vacant, with one larger store in that section hosting Toys for Tots each year. The Village Mall Cinema became second-run around 1982, offering films for $1.50 per person at all times. United Artists bought the theater in 1988 and continued with second-run films.  In 1995, the original department store entered Bankruptcy and shortly thereafter it closed.  Things became worse for the Village Mall Cinema and within 5 years it was closed, too.
