This cache should still be accessible even if you are not renting the cabin. There is parking in front of the gate. Be careful walking in the woods, lots of Rose Hip sticker bushes and the terrain is very uneven.
We have had staying at one of these public use cabins on our "must do" list for a number of years and FINALLY we are able to cross it off. Although I'm certain we will be doing it again. Awesome cabin in the woods but still close to the road.
The Alaska State Parks offer 60 cabins and 8 ice huts for rent by the public. These cabins are in 18 state park units, as far north as Fairbanks, in Interior Alaska, and as far south as Ketchikan, in Southeast Alaska. Reservations can be made online at dnr.alaska.gov/parks/cabins
