There is parking available at the roadside near the loch. The terrain is almost flat all the way round the loch but can be very wet. At the time of setting we had to wade in the shallow water to access the 4th gate.
A number of Shetland ponies graze here and it is important to close the gates to prevent them straying.
The cache is a lock and lock box with a log book and a pencil as well as a number of small swappable items.
Water from the loch is sometimes pumped to the Sandy loch outside Lerwick to augment the water supply during a dry summer.
There is evidence of wartime installations round the loch.
