Geocache Description:

This cache is placed in conjunction with the 100th Aniversary of the Lincoln Highway and the 6th Annual Grand Ol' Highway Event. This series will take you along the 1913 alignment of The Lincoln Highway through La Porte County.


Judge John C. Richter served as a judge on the La Porte Circuit Court for 18 years. He also served as La Porte's Lincoln Highway Local consul. Consuls provided information to the LHA's office on Detroit and shared information from the office with travelers and the public. The consul in Westville was I. N. Plant, who owned the hardware store. In Valparaiso the county consul was Charles Wark, also a hardware store owner. The local consul in Valparaiso was E. D. Hodges, who worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad.
