Geocache Description:

Salt Spring Transit, the public transit system on Salt Spring Island is now in its fifth year of service, and has seen increases in ridership each year since it began operations in January 2008, with a predicted ridership of 16,000 trips in the first year. By the time January 2009 rolled around, more than double that number of riders had tried the buses.

After that remarkable year, the system received the Canadian Urban Transit Association’s “Exceptional Service with Outstanding Performance” award.

Since then the system and the number of riders has continued to grow. In 2011/2012 more than 81,000 hopped on the buses to get around the island. In 2012/2013, with six routes, some overlapping, the number of riders climbed to over 93,000.

Four of those six routes pass this cache site, and there’s a busy parking lot very close, so some stealth will be required.

The cache is a small camoed container, with space for the log, small trackables (e.g. micro coins) and tiny treasures. BYOP.

There’s no bushwhacking involved, no climbing, and no need to move or disturb plants, rocks or geosticks to get your hands on the cache. Please take care to rehide as found.
