I placed this cache October 31st, 2013 on the day of my Uncle’s funeral.
I learned that most of the irrigation systems in the parks of Lethbridge, were designed by him. He was also involved in other irrigation projects and a water (or wastewater? I can’t recall) treatment plant in Cranbrook.
It was an interesting circumstance that I just stumbled upon this location when looking for a location to place a cache in his honour. Not only was it suiting, but the gate was open and the fellow who took care of it was there!
The cache is located near the wetland display, but hopefully far enough to the outside edge to stay dry in spring and summer. If the gates are closed, there is a pullout at the entrance (see parking coordinates) and an easy walk to the cache.
The best way to open or close the container is to pinch it shut a little tighter, then you can undo or redo the latch easily and without bending anything.
I think he would be happy it’s in an educational location like this.
