Geocache Description:

There is parking on the "downhill" side of the road. You will have to cross the road to reach the cache. Please be extraordinarily careful. I placed the cache without stepping off the pavement. Your experience will depend on the last cacher to replace it. NOTE: REPLACED cache ...now slightly uphill from pavement, but not too far.

Recently some of us cachers have been discussing the TOTT that you cannot or should not live without. This one has not come up in conversation. I think it will during our next discussion.

Today a friend suggested I take a drive up this road. After a little persuasion I figured it would be a good thing to do. I needed to quiet my mind, regain some focus, and just enjoy a mini-road trip with the windows rolled down and the radio turned up loud. I stopped at this location for a view of the lake. Then I realized the radio was too obnoxiously distracting. It wasn't just too loud....it was too much noise.

The "quiet" of natural-noises-only soothed my soul. Since I was placing a new cache I needed a name. In the quiet the name came to me.....Quietude. What's the difference of Quiet and Quietude? How is it a caching TOTT?

In my opinion "quiet" comes from the sounds/lack of sounds around you. Input. Quietude is more a state of mind from within. When it comes to caching how many times have you been befuddled, then just made yourself very quiet within, and immediately found the cache? That's the quietude I'm talking about. Thus Quietude becomes an important TOTT just about the time you are ready to give up and walk away with a DNF.

Pull out this TOTT the next time you're contemplating that DNF. See if it helps or not. It also works in other situations....like coping in a room with a ga-jillion candy-fed, giggly, teen & tween girls after they've been trick-or-treating for a couple of hours! Remember: quiet is what the girls are NOT....quietude is your internal silencer for coping.

Enjoy the quiet of this pretty little spot. Don't believe you'll have to resort to quietude to earn the smiley!
