The Old Library in Limassol is one of the Island's best examples of Neo-Classical Architecture and was featured as one of a set of special edition stamps in 2007
The foundations were laid in 1919 (So I guess the tree was here first??) and the building was completed in 1937 by the wholesale merchant Antonios Pilavakis according to a draft plan he had obtained from Paris. In 1960, following interventions in the initial layout of the building, it was converted into a library. The Limassol Municipal Library moved into this splendid architectural masterpiece of the town in the early 70s.
Please handle the hide with care, it's quite fragile, it just lifts off like a picture, cache is a nano, so bring a pencil. This is a VERY muggly area, so probably best done after 8pm or very early in the morning.
