Emeralda, the princess and only heir to the magical kingdom of Greater Greensward was furious when she learnt from her mother, Queen Chartreuse, that she was to marry stuck-up Prince Jorge from East Aradia, her worst enemy.
Fuming, she runs off to the swamp where she meets Prince Eadric of Upper Montevista. The only problem is that he has been turned into a frog by the witch Mudine. Emeralda kisses him, hoping to reverse the spell, but still clumsy at magic, she turns into a frog herself.
Learning that Mudine has disappeared, Emeralda takes Eadric to her favourite aunt, Grassina for help. Grassina, the younger sister of the Queen and the current Green Witch tells them that they have to complete several tasks in order to return to their normal state. While completing the tasks, Princess Emeralda falls deeply in love with Prince Eadric and when they finally assume their proper human form, Prince Eadric proposes to Emeralda and they live happily ever after.
