Geocache Description:

Welcome to Letocetum, a Roman settlement under the modern village of Wall.

The settlement is located on the ancient highway of Watling Street (A5) which connected London to North wales. It would have provided a resting area for marching legions or imperial messengers.

Although only a small portion of the ruins are visible it is still a fascinating place with much to discover.

The Cache is located very close to the main car park (N 52° 39.391 W 001° 51.508) in a unique red feature which I absolutely loved and I’m sure you will too!

After finding the Cache I recommend exploring the area. On the car park you will find an information panel containing leaflets for the ‘Wall Heritage Walk’ which you should take for a small donation of 20 pence. The complete walk around the area is 2.4 miles but it does offer you a shorter alternative of just 1.3 miles. Both walks will take you past the Roman ruins and the beautiful St. Johns Church. However if you’re short on time, the museum and roman ruins are only seconds away from the car park.  If you are planning to visit the museum I would recommend checking out the opening times on the English Heritage website:

Please note: as I dropped this cache ‘on the fly’ there is currently no swaps in it. I’ll put some in as soon as I can. The cache is a great size for trackables.
