This cache is placed at over 10,000 ft elevation to commemorate the team etacos finding over 10,000 caches. For 10K finds, etacos are relatively new and rigorous cachers having found 10k caches in under 5 years. They attend a lot of events and have taken on some daunting power trails in neighboring states. I put this cache on the Survey Trail with a short hike from the Crest road to lure them out to more caches in the Sandias.
The Survey trail is comparatively quiet (considering the first part of the trail is about 50 ft away from the Crest road) and actually had a little snow on the trail (follow the bb-prints...). There should be some roadside parking either side of the road near the trailhead, although I always park on the far side since there seems to be more of a cutout. Be careful driving the Crest road, there were already significant ice patches (in the shade of course) on the way up to this cache.
