Geocache Description:

This cache is what Geocaching is all about, a mixture of nature and technology with a large ammo can hidden in the woods.

To find this cache you will need a Garmin GPSr that can share wirelessly and set it to search for "Chirps".


This cache was placed in connection with the LaPorte County Parks Geocaching/Letterboxing 101 Program. All stages were placed with the permission of the park Ranger.

Luhr Park is 89 acres setting south of LaPorte, donated by Bud Luhr in 1985 to The LaPorte County Parks Department.
Luhr Park offers four significant eco systems: Upland Forest, Prairie, Wetlands and Pond.



Try your luck at landing a largemouth bass, blue gill, channel catfish or crappie in the two acre pond.


The park offers picnicking, shelter rentals and a variety of nature trails. The Nature Center provides professional interpretive displays depicting various natural wonders of the area. It also houses a bird viewing room fully equipped with one-way glass and a speaker to the outside for your enjoyment.

The park is dog friendly with a no leash exercise area.

There are many exciting free programs offered throughout the year including photography, fishing, hiking, hunter education, letterboxing and geocaching.
