Geocache Description:

A park and grab

The cache is placed at a travel center which offers fuel and food before you continue on your journey either to the north on hwy 85 to the North Dakota oil fields or to the west on hwy 212, the Warrior Trail.

The Warrior Trail stretches from Belle Fourche, SD through the Montana towns of Alzada, Broadus, Ashland, Lame Deer, and Busby before it joins Interstate 90 at the Little Bighorn Battlefield interchange near Crow Agency. Between 1865 and 1877 The Sioux, Cheyenne, and Arapahoe warriors fought to stop the westward settlements of the Euro Americans; many battles between the American Indians and the US Army of historical significance were along the corridor. Among the historical sites along the way are the 1876 Reynolds battle site near Broadus, Fort Howes near Ashland, and the Little Bighorn Battlefield at the end of the Warrior Trail.

As you travel on the Warrior Trail imagine that you are a traveler in 1865 and that there is no paved highway, and that there is just a gumbo soil trail. When gumbo is wet it is almost practically impossible to move across it. The characteristic of gumbo is to “ball up” and the feet of the unlucky humans or animals forced to travel in it seem to grow continually larger. In the summer the weather can be very dry; it would seem that one is traveling across miles of hot thirsty desert. Winter blizzards and freezing temperatures occurred along this Warrior Trail. All who traveled this corridor during the early days could be considered as warriors.  Because of the great minds of the USA inventors of technology now we all can travel to these historical sites and enjoy the wonderful scenery in the comfort of our automobiles.

The cache is hidden using the power of magnetism to hold it in place; it is too small for trade items. You will need to bring your own pencil. Use stealth when finding it and please re-hide it well. Thanks and have a great caching day.
