Lost Pubs #3 - The Shears Multi-Cache

This is the third of a little series I have decided to place in commemoration (or sometimes celebration) of pubs that have disappeared.

The Shears was established in 1873 but was rebuilt in the 1960's when the Staines Road was widened to a dual carriageway. It closed in 1996 and was demolished circa 2000. Now the location is occupied by a block of flats.

I never drank in this pub, so I can't tell you if this is a commemoration or celebration of it's disappearance.

If you are at the published coordinates, then you will be standing on the pavement directly outside where the pub once stood. To find the cache, look under your feet and you will see a small 'Thames Water' inspection cover.

On this cover there is a 7 letter word starting in D and finishing in E.

Give each letter a value corresponding to its position in the alphabet eg A=1, B=2, etc to Z=26.

Therefore 1st letter = D = 4

and 7th letter = E = 5
