Geocache Description:

This is the third of a little series I have decided to place in commemoration (or sometimes celebration) of pubs that have disappeared.

The Shears was established in 1873 but was rebuilt in the 1960's when the Staines Road was widened to a dual carriageway. It closed in 1996 and was demolished circa 2000. Now the location is occupied by a block of flats.

I never drank in this pub, so I can't tell you if this is a commemoration or celebration of it's disappearance.

If you are at the published coodinates, then you will be standing on the pavement directly outside where the pub once stood. To find the cache, look around you, you will see a lamp post with a number 1 on it.

Close by, on the floor still on the pavement but extending o the kerb you will see a drain / manhole cover, very close to a bicycle painted on the road.On this cover you will see a code BS abc defg. The final cache can be found at N51 25.dgc and W 000 25.(d+f)(e-g)(f-c) which is just a short walk away.

Happy hunting
