Geocache Description:

Series of four caches, plus a bonus cache with this being the third in the series. Clues for the bonus location are in/on the logs of caches 1-4.

This is our first series, let alone a series with a bonus, so any feedback would be much appreciated.

GPS can be vague and or bounce all over the place with the heavy tree cover, so the hints could prove very useful in reaching GZ.

You'll need to make some notes so you can solve the clues to find the bonus cache, so a pen and paper, or something to record the clues and or answers, will be needed.

Swag rules: please observe the unwritten-rule in the geocaching community that you only take a piece of swag if you put something of equal or better value/interest back into the cache ... this doesn't apply to trackable items as these are obviously free to move as per their specified goal.

Caches 1, 2 and 3 each start out their life with the following contents: A yellow stretchy bendy man, a geocaching sticker, a marble, a random trolley token, a pirate treasure coin. Cache #1 also has a FTF key ring, but the bonus cache has some extra goodies in it, including a couple of TBs, one for the FTF and one for the STF.

This series of caches is probably best done on foot (although a car nearby could save you some time, otherwise give yourself a good couple of hours, more if you are going to attempt some of the other caches you will be passing close to/by) and Mr Tidos feels that cache #1 is definitely a "by foot only" cache and not a cache that should be attempted in shorts, I’d be very inclined not to try it if you’re out caching with children.

These caches are best done when there is plenty of daylight left - after all you are venturing into woods in the countryside, deep deep into the woods and, depending on the route taken, potentially through plenty of undergrowth to reach cache #1.

This is the third set of woods you will visit and the third set of woods Dexter (our cocker spaniel) was introduced to on his walkies. We now explore them on a regular basis, as there are numerous paths for him to run along and lots of smells to follow. We happened upon these woods and the tracks running through them some time ago as we attempted some of the other caches nearby so this cache could be done as a diversion from these, or just to get the caches tucked away in these woods known as Bull's Bushes Copse. This is a regular spot for dog walkers and horse riders. So whilst it is relatively muggle free, a little stealth may be needed as you'll be surprised at how easy it is to turn round and suddenly notice someone coming through the woods towards you.

When you're stood by a truly huge tree, you'll be at GZ. [January 2014 ... A large section of the landmark sized tree, that the original and unchanged start of this paragraph refers to, has recently fallen and now lies to the south of what remains of this once majestic specimen of a tree. What remains is the first 20foot or so of the main trunk with one or two branches partially intact. This is a shame as the original tree was a marvellous sight and a truly impressive size. It must have had the biggest largest trunk I've seen on a tree in many a year, certainly the largest in these woods, or any of the woods round Oakley that Dexter has taken us into. The cache is still intact and in it's original location.]

Please make sure you put the cache back exactly where you found it, thank you.
