Kobe Yusen Building Traditional Cache

Modern building in 1918, was built as old as the NYK Kobe branch by the design of our 曾禰 elephant Nakajo Seiichiro on the site of the first U.S. Consulate just north of American Wharf.

メリケン波止場のすぐ北の初代米国領事館の跡地に1918年、曾禰達蔵・中條精一郎の設計により旧日本郵船神戸支店として建設された近代ビル。

It was a building of classical style decorated with a lot of reinforced concrete and steel frame was still rare at that time, and there is a dome on the roof, compared to now, but was heavily damaged in Kobe air raid in 1945. Even after renovation, small cylinder of Ionic in appearance of the beam stone, huge semicircular arch of the upper entrance and a Karahafu the eastern front, cornice two upstairs section, on both sides of the third floor window and, now I am leaving the darker hue of the style principle also.

当時まだ珍しかった鉄骨や鉄筋コンクリート造りで、屋上にドームがあるなど、今に比べると装飾の多い古典主義様式の建物でしたが、１９４５年の神戸空襲で大きな被害を受けました。  改修されたとはいえ、石貼りの外観、東側正面の唐破風のある玄関や上部の巨大な半円アーチ、２階上部の軒蛇腹、３階窓の両側にあるイオニア式の小円柱など、今も様式主義の色合いを濃く残しています。キャッシュはこのビルの裏側に設置しました。
