Church Micro 4532 - St. Helens, Pinxton

St Helens Church was built in the year 1299 from the remains of a Norman Castle; the old stone was used in the tower and chancel. The first Rector was Richard de Hereford in 1299.

Much of it was rebuilt in 1790 reusing the original materials, and only the west tower and west end of the old church remains. By 1890, it was so dilapidated that most of the services were held in the mission room. However in the following century it was repaired and a new porch and north aisle were added in 1939.

The listed co-ordinates are for the church itself. To find the cache you need to read the plaque at the top of the church notice board, dedicated to a former churchwarden. The number of years he held this post is AB.

The cache can then be found a short walk away at:

The waypoint is accessible to both wheelchair and pushchair users, but the cache is not accessible to wheelchair users.
