Geocache Description:

Gun's Lane, named after a family who lived here, is the old medieval road from Cambridge to the Isle of Ely. During the Norman conquest of England, William the Conqueror passed this way with his army as he chased a rebel Saxon, Hereward the Wake, into the Fens. Nowadays it’s a bridleway frequented by walkers of all descriptions going from the northern end of Histon to Westwick before it turns into Rampton drift and continues on towards Willingham and eventually Ely.

This cache can make part many circular walks of varying lengths – many taking in other caches in the area including those on the guided busway. Warning it can get very muddy and horses are known to “cut up” the track making the situation even worse. The cache is a 400ml box in a camo bag.
