Ammo can in the fluted base of an oak along the Hillsborough River, about 2 miles from nearest parking.
Millard was a small lumber and cattle community. It was on the other side of the railroad and a bit further south. That land is private now, so I recall Millard with this hide.
In the 1960s, the old railroad trestle near was torn down by local cowboys, some from Millard. They contracted with the railroad to do it for the lumber salvage. Snaked the lumber out to the hard road with their horses, then trucked it to the fairgrounds at Dade City and sold it.
The trestle is being rebuilt again, a different work arrangement this time, more horsepower.
This is the Upper Hillsborough WMA, hunting here. Rec users can access the property during hunts, but you might not want to. For hunt dates, see www.myfwc.com --> hunting --> Upper Hillsborough.
