Geocache Description:

Yes, Geocaching can be dangerous. In fact, Geocaching comes with it’s own Disclaimer. You can read all about this disclaimer in REHAB, which is where one of our fellow cachers, Matt of kailua.cat&matt, ended up after coming out for a bike ride with a group of “dangerous” cachers.

We really didn’t mean for this to be a dangerous caching expedition. We took bikes out to make the trek up and down the road quicker so that we had more time to hike. However, on the way down, Matt had a fateful accident with a guard rail. Needless to say, he ended up needing surgery and a lengthy stay in the hospital. When visited by his geocaching friends, one of the first things Matt said when he looked at us was,
“You guys are sooo dangerous!”


At the time of this cache publication, Matt is still at home recovering. We wish you a speedy recovery so that you can join us back on the trails soon!
This is the guard rail post that attacked Matt.


This cache is located near Matt’s crash site. It is not necessarily at a “dangerous” location, but should you choose to bike your way up and down to this cache and use a guard rail as your means of stopping, then yes, it is dangerous. Those guard rail posts are very sharp. Matt’s 30+ stitches can attest to that. I highly suggest staying on the road and avoiding the guard rails if you do choose to bike it up to this cache.

You will, however, have to climb over the guard rail to get to the cache. No need to go that far…
