Urban Cattails Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

RayQix: With a feeling of "why did they do that??"...

I'm archiving this one.

Something else will be around this area, but not sure yet what or how.

Stay tuned ... and thanks for all the logs on this one.

Geocache Description:

A cat tail is defined as any of various perennial herbs of the genus Typha, widespread in marshy places and having long straplike leaves and a dense cylindrical cluster of minute flowers and fruits. Also called reed mace.

Typha /ˈtaɪfə/ is a genus of about eleven species of monocotyledonous flowering plants in the family Typhaceae. The genus has a largely Northern Hemisphere distribution, but is essentially cosmopolitan, being found in a variety of wetland habitats.

These plants have many common names. They may be known in British English as bulrush, or reedmace,[1] in American English as cattail, catninetail, punks, or corn dog grass, in Australia as cumbungi or bulrush, and in New Zealand as raupo. Other taxa of plants may be known as bulrush, including some sedges in Scirpus and related genera.

Cattail Rhizomes

The rhizomes (roots) are edible. Evidence of preserved starch grains on grinding stones suggests they were eaten in Europe 30,000 years ago.

This was a spot that reminded me of the country.... but right here in suburbia.... and i thought it would be a nice place to visit to grab a cache as well.

The cache IS a watertight tube, placed NEAR the ground-level, and is NOT deep-within the cattails.  You should NOT have to get wet (unless its raining or snowing) in order to retrieve and replace this container.  There is a container-within-a-container now (8/7/2014) so please do NOT remove the "holder" container.

This WILL be more difficult in the warmer weather due to the growth of the natural habitat here.
