Atop the most southerly hill in a chain known as the Seven Sisters. The castleis built on a one hundred and eighty-four acre estate. Gillette's own walking paths were constructed with near-vertical steps, stone-arch bridges, and wooded trestles spanning up to forty feet. Other outdoor attractions include a vegetable cellar, the railroad station and Gillette's goldfish pond.
The cache i located in where there is a great view. It is away from the castle a little so that there wont be a issue with mugglers. This is a easy cache to get to and no bushwacking is needed. it might not be winter friendly if we get alot of snow. Also be sure to take a ride on the East Haddem Ferry where a great view of the castle can be seen. This is a great family spot and full of history to enjoy. bring the whole family as i think everyone will enjoy it. There are picnic areas and a gift shop, a food court and plenty of free parking
