Geocache Description:

This simple multi-cache involves the Korean War memorial located at Conestee Park on Mauldin Road. The given coordinates are for the memorial. Gather some information to get the location of the main cache, which is located far enough away from most muggles but doesn't require a long walk from the memorial.

  • On the right side of the memorial, it states that it is in memory of "the more than __,000 American GIs who made the ultimate sacrifice". Add together the first two digits to find A
  • The memorial is dedicated to a chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association. Take the middle digit of the 3-digit chapter and call it B
  • What day in June 2013 was the memorial dedicated? That date is C
  • Look at the bricks that line the walkway in front of the memorial. Near the bottom left corner is a brick dedicated to William Russell Martin, who was deployed in Korea for 2 years in the Army. Take the year that he ended his service and add together the last 2 digits of that year and use that for D

The coordinates for the 2nd stage (where the cache is hidden) are:

N 34 46.AB9
W 082 21.CD2

Checksum: A + B + C + D = 18

Good luck and have fun! (And don't forget to pay your respects. Veterans make us free to geocache!)
