Geocache Description:

You are looking for a micro pot, hidden nearby, not at, the published coordinates.  You will visit the site of the War Memorial in Knowle as well as The Soldiers Chapel inside the church. The cache is available 24/7, but the Church is locked overnight from various times.

On street parking and shoppers car parks with sufficient free periods (ticket from machine required) to be able to achieve this cache are available nearby at various locations.

As there used to be limited space around the original War Memorial, the Knowle Branch of The Royal British Legion erected a temporary structure on the green nearby each year to act as a focal point for the Remembrance Sunday Parade, and a two minute silence and "Last Post" at 11.00hrs on 11th November.

In 2018, after a campaign started by a local retired GP, supported by The Knowle Society and The Royal British Legion (Knowle), sufficient funds were raised to renovate the original plinth, pave the surrounding area, and to add three new triangular columns inscribed with the names of the fallen. The final approved design was drawn up free of charge by a local firm of architects. The alteration and installation work was carried out free of charge by a local building company.

Due to current Covid-19 restrictions access to the church is extremely limited. Visiting the Soldiers Chapel is hardly possible but I am keen to keep this cache available. To this end, if you email me with the information gained from the listed co-ordinates, I will reply with the remainder of the information that you need to identify the final GZ. This is not ideal as you will miss out on seeing the gem that is the Soldiers Chapel, and the main reason for the placement. But in the current situation, needs must. Thank you for your understanding.

STAGE 1

From the Memorial at the published coordinates;

A = The number of concrete pillars across the pavement by the Guild Hall.

B = The total number of names properly inscribed on the original Memorial plinth.

C = The number of bulkhead lights attached to the boundary wall.

STAGE 2

Information required for Stage 2 will be found at The Soldiers Chapel. This memorial chapel is inside the church at the far end of the left hand aisle as you enter.

D = The number of Flying Angels bearing shields, minus 'A'

E = HMS ? was adopted by the local Sunday School. The number of words in the name plus 1.

F = The number of letters on the top step at the entrance to the chapel, minus 6

The cache can be found at - N52 23.ABC  W001 44.DEF

The cache is a short walk away. Children and pets should exercise extra control over their parents and guardians as the route to the cache crosses busy roads.
