Kadoorie beach is the smallest beach and is the least-attended among the beaches in Tuen Mun district.
The beach name Kadoorie comes from the Kadoorie family whose lives in houses near the beach. The Kadoorie Family, formerly merchant farmers of Jewish origin, settled in Baghdad, Iraq many centuries ago. The Kadoorie family successfully expanded the family businesses into a diversified group, led by the company flagship China Light Power Holdings Ltd. The largest power supply in Hong Kong.
Nobody else as highly contributed agricultural and poultry improvment in Hong Kong as the Kadoorie. They set up Kadoorie Agricultural Aid Association (KAAA), Kadoorie Agricultural Research Centre, Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden to demonstrating good crop production and animal husbandry, improving livestock breeds and training; supply good quality seeds and livestock breeds, supply of agricultural inputs and interest-free loans.
Heard from So Kwun Wat villagers, in 1960-1970's, Sir Kadoorie visited the villages of Castle Peak Road every morning, to give fruits and breads to local villagers and played with children. The legends said the hosues of Sir Kadoorie had no wall and security system because the villagers protect the Kadoorie.
Heard from other villagers, since good quality seeds and livestock breeds gave by KAAA, all farmers knew the Kadoorie family. They allowed the power supply system passed through their farms and protected all CLP facilities.
