Bunker Hill is one of the oldest churches in the area. Established over a 150 years ago, it used to be a few miles South of town and moved to the present site in the year 2000. According to tradition, the name Bunker Hill came from a dispute the church people had with a local farmer who didn’t want people passing through his farm to get to church.. He claimed the lane they were using was his property. After a time, the people won the battle and the lane was designated a road (which is now Highway Route 40).
