Geocache Description:

I am placing this series, not to promote any of the businesses mentioned, but to promote my favorite drink: espresso.

Please note that it is to be pronounced ES-presso not EX-presso. It annoys people like me when said incorrectly. :)

Urban Standard opened its doors in November 2007 after a year of planning. The initial idea was to open a workshop/gallery, where the public could see the work of Tomek Wrzesien, the proprietor, as well the work of a rotating cast of local artists. That idea merged into a coffee and lunch spot complete with antiques.

Tomek and his friends Nancy, Buck and Jane Brock, spent months developing menu items and testing them out. Polish flavors and family recipes round out the daily menu selections while coffee from Durham, N.C. based roaster, Counter Culture Coffee, provides the buzz.

The coffee shop is nestled next to several other businesses with a buzz on the distinctive 2nd Avenue North. In fact, this Polish-inspired place is adjacent to a German-inspired biergarten. Let's hope they get along...

Congratulations to Geo Steveo and ssurfer48 on being co-FTF!
