Der Boxberg wurde Anfang der Sechziger Jahre als Großsiedlung konzipiert. Für Auswärtige gilt der Stadtteil inzwischen mit dem Emmertsgrund als sozialer Brennpunkt Heidelbergs obwohl er in Wahrheit sehr ruhig ist. Der Anteil an über 65 Jährigen liegt z.B. bei > 36% (Heidelberg ca. 22%) und bei Straftaten liegt der Boxberg ebenso im unteren Bereich.
Die Immobilienpreise sind wegen der zahlreichen Plattenbauten eher gering, obwohl der Boxberg in einer Höhe zwischen 210 und 270 m ü. NN direkt am Waldrand inmitten herrliche Natur liegt und stressgeplagten Großstädtern Erholung pur bietet. /
The Boxberg is a district of Heidelberg, which is located on the western slopes of the Koenigsstuhl mountain just above Heidelberg-Rohrbach, north of the Emmertsgrund suburb.
The Boxberg was designed as a large housing area in the early sixties. Non-inhabitants state that the district combined with the Emmertsgrund is a source of social problems although it is very quiet, in fact. The proportion of over 65 year olds is for example at > 36% (Heidelberg about 22%). In addition, the Boxberg has a very low number of criminal offenses.
Real estate prices are rather low due to the numerous buildings made with precast concrete slabs, although the Boxberg at an altitude 210-270 m above sea level is situated directly on the edge of a forest area wich provides pure relaxation for stressed-out people.
